The old Somali Republic would...

Postby BigBreak » Sat Nov 16, 2013 6:33 pm

...not have collaped and be divided had there had been more than only one major city (Mog). Hyper centralism meant that Xamar was the only city the govt invested and developed, since it was the capital/seat of govt. This forced people from across the country to inhabit Xamar leaving behind their own regions and towns due to neglect and underdevelopment. Im not having a pop at Mog as my family lived their and it was a pearl of a city that belonged to all clans.

Even if there was another city as developed like Hargeisa than it would have balanced the society.

What should be done to prevent a new one city state like Kuwait and Djibouti?

Somalia should be a federal cardboard cutout of Germany with many major cities, each city being a centre of different fields (finance, culture, maritime, education, religion etc.)

^ Something that are my plans for Somalia(weyn).....Mogadishu is the capital but won't be the all encompassing leader, just like Washington,Berlin etc aren't. For the hope of stability.

A smarter more efficient plan would just relocate the capital and make a planned city in Erigavo. All problems would be extinguished. Guaranteed.
