How did your forefathers go from being 'coastal merchants' to 'camel herders' ?

If you read history, you'd know that the major Somali coastal city-states went into decline. This was partly due constant wars but also due to the Portuguese destruction of the east-African trade route to india and china . This forced people to go back to being nomadic pastoralists.

Arab balls sucking started over a millennia ago, when Arab merchants banished from their lands came to teach the Somali about Islam.

Arab ball sucking is unfortunately as old as the qabiil system. They taught us qabiil as well.

And both qabiil and religion has made Somalia an unfortunate place today. Can you imagine a Somalia without qabiil or religion? We could have been a Taiwan or Japan. Somalis are very business like and adapt quickly.

Anyways those who suck hairy Arab balls feel inferior. I think those who claim Arab ancestry are betrayers of the Somali people. Even if it is the case, stop bringing it up. Have some pride. Do you want your nation being perceived as a nation of mutts? You want your existence to start just 1000 years ago? Why bring up ancestry of people who think below you as if you were their bastard child? I don't think its even true. Somalis don't speak Arabic. Never have. There's no evidence of Arab culture. Nothing has been carried on. None of their foods. You name it

I disagree. Arab ball-sucking is a recent phenomenon thanks to Saudi-wahabi oil money finacing global terror schools, where any allegiance to anything other than their ideology is bidcah. This includes culture and language being destroyed and being replaced by burkas and khaleeji thawbs. Before then, the Somalis were always separate and aloof, even considering the arabs as inferior naago. At the same time, the old Somalis understood the prestige of being associated with the prophet SAWS and claimed mythical ashraaf arab ancestors. Just because they claimed descent from the Prophet SAWS doesn't mean they idolised arabs.

Speaking of Oman, I have a lot of admiration the architectural design of Muscat. I don't like the plastic sky scrapers with no souls. I'd much prefer to live in a city/town with a mixture of old historical city building and modern day residential areas.

Muscat Traditional Arab city. I hope they never go Dubai on us.

There is no such thing as arabs! except Saudis/Yemenis. Everyone else is a mutt. North Africans, people from the levant and iraq are all mutts. somalis are mutts too.
