Jabutí language

Postby ToughGong » Mon Jan 13, 2014 5:50 pm

Jabutí is a nearly extinct Yabutian language that as of 1990 was spoken by only five people in Rondônia, Brazil, at the headwaters of the Rio Branco.

I don't know but I've heard it said it means Jab Buti
Buti is what Somalis call bears and apparently there once was a ship with bears on board on it's way to a zoo in Europe that ran aground in the area.Hence the Jab

Interesting. How do we even have a word for bears if there aren't any back home? Also, whats a ship full of bears doing off the coast of Somalia?

Goes to show you they weren't ever interested in protecting their "identity" to allow their population to reach such a level. They have no one to blame except themselves.

By the way the word madaxkuti is interesting. I have a theory that its a combination of madax=head and kuti=dog in South Asian languages.
