Just watched "12 Years A Slave"

Postby FAH1223 » Sat Jan 18, 2014 4:38 pm

I think more movies need to be made on that period of American History (pre-civil war).

The movie got me feeling some type of way :wow:

You're the 10th guy now to have said described it like that. I need to watch it now.

Does Putlocker show it on the net? I'm not gonna hit the screens to watch it.

Yeah, they more or less stayed true to the autobiography of Solomon

Wish they had elapsed time a little better showing how the years passed by, like simple captions showing "2 years later, 3 years later, etc"

But man, 12 years :damn: kidnapped right in Washington and he had his papers proving he was a free negro too.

My college campus was a former slave plantation :(

Watched it a while ago, thought the movie was torture, I don't think modern day audience should be subjected to kind of portrayal of slavery. It's not like we need to see the evils of it to abolition it, it's been Abington for almost 150 years.

I nearly walked out ofthe screening it was so utterly disturbing.

Yeah, I wish that was toned down and the focus on his release i.e. the Canadian abolitionist writing the letters to Solomon's family/friends could have been expanded on a little bit.

I feel like the last half hour of the film could have been done better.

But overall, it's a good film IMO. I think it's a tad overrated but it definitely was gut wrenching. When I first saw Roots like ten years ago, that messed me up more but probably cause I was younger.

I watched the film about month back and didn't get all bleary eyed.
If anything I was left with a lasting impression on how useless these adoons are/were.

Films that protray niggas as pathetic child-like creatures, wholly dependent on the charity/decency of whites, sicken me.
