FIrstly sovereing means to have a world diplomatic relations. Somalia is now a sovereing country and today the japan ambassador has arrived mogadishu...every month a new 4 ambassadors arrive usually. The south sudan crisis and who saved the somalis in there is a big example to tell who is sovereign

Now to your question; after the south sudan seceded from the north, sudan(the north/the whole sudan) was labeled as a failed country and when the south gained its independence they call it the birth of a failed state!.

This move has destabilized the whole sudan including the west and now the south itself!!.

The same thing may happen to somalia if it considers to take the same move, it may destabilize the whole somalia and even somaliland will need a patron state like ethiopia for its stability(we read the ethiopian deputy fm having sent a message to abdiwali gaas concerning the eastren somaliland regions)

The animosity between mogadishu and hargeysa will get larger and it won't solve the problem just like ethiopia is still at war with asmara or between the sudanese genarally. Thus, the somali govt can't be responsible for making somalia a failed country but if this choice was reached from the outside world the govt won't take the responsibility.

I have listened to an interview with guleed and he said that he follows the govts 6 pollar policy wich one of them states to reach a unity, however, I believe he doesn't fit for this job.

Sahal,

Somalia has been a failed state for more than 23 years now. Somalia giving de jure recognition to Somaliland will not change the situation adversly. In fact the situation might get better in that Somaliland can help Somalia get back on its feet. There is a somali proverb " Colka wadhaf ma lagu dayey". Meaning did we try something different? 23 years Somalia has been saying Somaliland can't get separate but all that has accomplished is the citizens of Somaliland & citizens of Somalia have been drifting apart ever since.

I think the mutual recognition of Somaliland & Somalia and co-operation, including Djibouti would herald a new dawn for Somalis in the horn. In fact, Somalia is at its weakest moment today because today there is the occupation of Kenya & Ethiopia and the rest of the AMISOM countries. However, when Somaliland gets its de jure recognition it will have a seat in IGAD and the UN which will bolster the voice of the Somalis two three. There would be no need for foreign involvement in Somalia because Djibouti & Somaliland would help Somalia pick up the pieces.

All in all, it is a win win situation for both Somalia, Somaliland & Djibouti.
There is a difference between failed state and a failed country.

I disagree totally. Somaliland will never be like djibouti and will be on the side of ethiopia. Djibouti had given the somalia intelligence information againist ethiopia during the 77 war. In djibouti was done a lot of somali reconciliations including the agreement with the islamic courts. Djibouti wants strong somalia on its side.

Mogadishu will never recognize somaliland, its a fact but wants to create a new political balance where hargeysa controls the north and mogadishu the south.

Now somalilands card is about two things; having a different colonial history and having stability. The talks will continue with a lot of delayments, say once in 5 months, another year in wich during the stability will be back to the south and this would make your independence claim mute and the world would tell you; you got only to negotiate on power sharing!.

This is why Somalia will always be in the situation it is 23 years & counting. The good thing is, these talks and the road map put in place is not beholden to Somalia. The international community are a party to this and will arbitrate the disentanglement of Somalia & Somaliland. Your wishful thinking of trying to create your country on the back of Somaliland will never fly. With your kind of thinking Somalia will remain neutered and impotent. In fact, I'm glad Ethiopia and Kenya occupy your country and walk all over you. You deserve to be humiliated as such.

Actually you had a heart attack, that is why I quoted you so you wont try to spin it. :D Somalia is the poster child for hell on earth where as Somaliland is considered the Country of the year by prestigious magazines like the Economist. We are not even on the same level. Your inability to reconcile and live like civilized people exemplifies your primitive behavior. Alhamdulilah I am from Somaliland and not Somalia. The world has two different opinions between us, in fact they ask themselves if they're both ethnically Somali, why are those from Somalia devoid of reason and behave like savages and those from Somaliland an example of the human will to persevere.

Somalia is the only country in the world being occupied and managed by third world countries, at least Afghanistan is occupied by the US which is the world super power.

Next time they will agree on:
Both parties agrees that Tarawih is Sunnah.
Both Parties agrees that Somalia and Maamulka speak the same language
Both Parties agrees that Somalia and Maamulka worships the same God.
Both Parties agrees that Somalia and Maamulka is located in Horn Africa seperated from Middle East by Ocean/Red Sea
Both Parties agrees that the food we just ate was delicious.

Djibouti is not claimed by somalia, and does not consider it an enemy , while you are right now our enemy.
Acceptance of dejure independance of somaliland, will go along way to reconcile both countries.
you scenario is wishfull thinking, if you are our enemy today, do you think drawing out the talks for years will make us friends?. Somaliland is close to Ethiopia because it is not recognized, we are already independent from you.
We need recognition to be free from Ethiopian dependence.
The animosity between mogadishu and hargeysa will get larger and it won't solve the problem just like ethiopia is still at war with asmara or between the sudanese genarally. you are the poster child for failed state, how can reconciling with somaliland make it worse?
Do you think further alienating us will bring peace?
your argument is devoid of logic.

its a storm brew of emotions, envy, shame and hatred that gets in the way of logic.
this explains the lack of logic in sahals statement .

Gurey, you're right but what I noticed is that that warped kind of out look is what has put Somalia back in the stone ages. The culture of zero sum game has entrenched itself in Somalia for good. Just look at how they cannot reconcile one single village. If they can't do justice for themselves in Somalia, how can we expect them to deal with Somaliland in a just manner? Inakaaba ka walaan runtii trying to reason with that kind of mentality.

to be honest there has been some cultural assimilation, they havent changed much from the 60's when we joined them. back then they had pretty much the same culture but it was covered by a veneer of sophistication.
We joined them as naive idealists , and were fucked literally.
Today we have assimilated some of their culture and our political class are nearly all criminals just like them, respect for xeer and nationalism forged during the struggle is responsible for our success so far.
we just need to keep them on their toes.

Gurey, I'm not talking about politicians. I'm talking about the average person. Wayba bahaloobeen the ones from Somalia. Waxayba moodaan damaacinimo is the way to get ahead in life.

Somaliland succeeds because of the average citizen who values life as precious and peace as something to treasure. Just look at the latest issue near Oog. Two different sub clans fought each other, yet people are ready to reconcile.

Le Justicier, Sahal thinks when Somaliland attains de jure recognition Somalia is going to cease to exist. Siduu u xanaaqay waxaad moodaa in Somalia la waayayo and an atomic bomb is going to erase Somalia from the face of the earth.
