Black is neither a race nor ethnicity, the way I see it, fits those who consider themselves as such. When it comes to job apps, I normally check black, at least it's a good way to get advances when it comes to the selection phase of the hiring pool.

Is black a country? No. Is black a language or culture? As far as I'm aware there isn't a country called blackia or blackland
There's no country called Somaliland but that doesn't stop you from claimin it :Heh:

Somali people are indigenous to east Africa with a limited inter-mixture with either Caucasians or Bantus. Genetically speaking we are cousins to other East Africans like the Oromo and the Afars ets but we have slightly higher Middle eastern intermixture than them. It is likely that we have separated from other east Africans around 5000 years ago. About the Bantus, whites or Arabs, I don't think we share any common ancestor closer than at least 30,000 years ago.
Are we black? yes, most somlis are either black or brown but mainly brown skinned. Are we Africans? Last time I checked Somalia and Somaliland were in the African continent, so yes we are Africans. for that reason the description of black African is fair.
Are we closely related to Bantus, as the brain dead dameer Yalaxaw wishes, or Arabs as many Somalinets with inferiority complex issues wish? The answer is BIG NO, we are unique and we are SOMALIS :blessed:

Even though i think whites will be ignorant of the differences within Africans. But for this list a case could be made for the Asians as they splintered into minority groups that have a big presence here since the 60s; so the length of the list and the processing time is justified.
Secondly Somalis for the most part (apart from very insignificant variation) don't have a separate skin tone then other blacks, we both have same shades and tone of skin colour. So this black category is totally fair imo.

tsss..hmm i dont know about that,.. i dont put somalis in the same category as zambians zimbabwans zulus or that girl from HR Chimamandanata's and Ọgụgụọmakwa's of nigeria and cameroon...
whitehartlane always ticks the 'others' and write eloquently 'somali'

Who cares what Somalis really are anyway to be honest.

In less than 100 years ethnic Somalis will be a Jareer-Oromo mixed "race".

Haye inadeer. I'm out here worrying for your kind surrounded on all corners by Jareers and I'm trying to find a solution in which Somalia is broken up into northeast and northwest and the south to save the Somali ethnic group and you're here trying to
take jabs at my clan lol One may I add is the furthest away from any riverine region  Southerners are ignominiously hilarious.

Technically I shouldn't be giving a shit (Ideally) but as-long as we share a "Country" its troublesome to me so I'm sort of "forced" to give a shit.

I just hope Puntlanders wake up and realise Somalia is dead and isn't coming back...close off our territory and declare independence from Zoomalia, that would be my ultimate dream :D Trust me, I wouldn't even mention you guys when that happens.

I dont consider myself black. Since this word is more suited to explain zanzibarians or other bantus.

Are Somalis E1b1a or M2? Do they come from the equatorial forest or Eastern Nigeria or Cameroon?

http://bhsrv.upf.edu/dcomas/wp-content/ ... no2011.pdf

: Bantu languages, Central Africa, demographic expansion, Y chromosome
Received 23 September 2010; revision revised 30 March 2011; accepted 12 April 2011

'The term Bantu refers to a family of languages which is
widespread in most of the sub-Saharan continent and is
currently spoken by almost 220 million people (Marten
2006). Despite their adoption by populations which are
settled in a very wide territory encompassing a large
portion of the continent from the equatorial belt to
Southern Africa, Bantu languages are characterized by a
high degree of similarity even among the most geo-
graphically distant communities (Greenberg 1955, 1972;
Oliver 1966a). As a result of almost a century of linguis-
tic and archaeological studies, the distribution of Bantu
languages is thought to be the effect of a population
expansion (commonly referred to as the Bantu expan-
sion) which started from the Benue River Valley,
between South East Nigeria and Western Cameroon
(Johnston 1919; Bakel 1981; Vansina 1984, 1995). This is
mainly supported by the fact that Bantoid languages,
regarded as being ancestral to the Bantu ones, are pres-
ently spoken in this area (Greenberg 1949; Guthrie 1962;

Oliver 1966a; b; Lwanga-Lunyiigo 1976). A relatively
recent population growth and colonization (
3–5 kya)
of new territories is still accepted today by most schol-
ars as the most reasonable explanation for the geo-
graphical dispersal and relative homogeneity of Bantu
languages (Schoenbrun 2001). It has also been proposed
that the first steps of migration could have followed
two main routes which have been defined as the ‘Wes-
tern’ and ‘Eastern’ streams (Vansina 1984, 1995; Scho-
enbrun 2001). An alternative scenario was proposed by
Guthrie (1962). While agreeing with Greenberg and oth-
ers about the centre of origin of Bantu languages, he
proposed the Katanga region, in the South of the Demo-
cratic Republic of Congo, in the middle of the equato-
rial forest, as the area from where Bantu-speaking
populations spread towards Western and Eastern
Africa. However, some authors have highlighted the
reductionism of these hypotheses based on a single
huge population migration linked to the spread of lan-
guages, and have underlined the relevance of local
migration processes (Lwanga-Lunyiigo 1976; Ehret 2001;
Schoenbrun 2001).

If any doubts remain in your mind, check this documentary:

The mystery of the black mummy and the origin of E1b1b. Video, 49 minutes. Somalis are not Bantu, which is the usual meaning of the name "Black". The color has more to do with sunlight at the equator than it does with genetics.
