Shirib, the punishment in of itself is something. A rich white man was untouchable for the majority of America's history let alone the 1% of the 1%. Now, they are forced to keep their prejudiced views to themselves, that shows you how much their power has waned.

FAH, the league can't force him outright, but they make it hard enough on him that he has no real choice. Of course he can keep the team, and just delegate from the periphery, but imagine your own property is being embargoed against you. And yeah you are right, gays are a fast becoming a protected group, but they still have a ways to go.

Yeah, you can't racist shit if you hold some kind of position without getting heat. The NBA organization is run by a small wealthy white group, and so it shows how they are willing to throw the owner under the bus. Blacks might be the majority players, but they wouldn't stop playing if nothing was done. Also it is whites who bring in the revenues, as they are the majority viewers and go to games.

As for endorsements, that is something related to the NBA league, and not players in particular. The players negotiate with the league to get a cut out of the endorsement revenues, this has led to frequent NBA lockouts or strikes.

no. you just can't be overt about it. that white-mexican killed that black kid in florida a year ago and got off for nothing. black men are given longer sentences for the same crimes as whites, etc. america is very racist. the only type of racism they won't accept is the overt in your face calling someone a bad name. which IMO is the least significant.

the housing discrimination this guy was charged with by the United States Department of Justice was more significant than his views on whether his woman should be taking instagram pictures with black people. but this is the sort of misdirection white america loves to keep the real problems of racism in the background.

this was all about money. the guy Silver admitted today he's been friends with this guy for 20 years. the guy has had multiple lawsuit brought against him for racism. they all knew what he was. they just never had a problem with it till it affect their money.
