I didn't know Hawiye herds goats. I know geel is not their thing but I always thought they were farmers (agriculturalist) than pastoralist like the true Somali.

Now they are scamming the Church by telling her they used to herd goats when they used to work the farm to feed the true Somali :)

I just hope they won't teach the American goat her to do the niiko :)

I welcome their goat venture. Better than Isbaaro in Salt Lake city.

I'm so happy for them. Nothing better than working in the open fresh air. Certainly beats working as truck or taxi drivers. :)

I don't know about Colorado or Utah, but goats are big business here in the Bay area. The owners get the usual profits when they sell animals, but they also get $500-1,000/ acre for the goats eating off grass that would otherwise be a fire hazard.

We have a herd of 3,000 eating their way through the parks and open land around us.

In case you haven't noticed, hilib ari is not cheap in the US.
