Trip to Berbera

Postby EvolSyawla » Sat Aug 16, 2014 3:17 am

I am not a photographer, but thought I'd take a couple pics (obv filtered cause my cam sucks) for you. No one really posts pics from Berbera - I've seen alot from Hargeisa and Mogadishu though

Zubeir, I had your little town on my mind, which you said was a few km east of Berbera. I remember someone saying it was overrun with abeeso (sp?), which was exciting to want to check out. I brought it up but was overruled... It is actually accessible by land (you said only by ocean), but you need a proper sand-dune to get to it...our trucks got stuck in the sand when we ventured off a bit too far. Good times.

Image
Land of Abeeso in the distance lol

Image
Ottoman ruins. THE WHOLE CITY LOOKS DESTROYED  :? . Minus the newer houses...there is a certain charm to the city, but it is rundown as hell. Ilahay ha barakayo

Image
 Mini camel caravan against a gorgeous landscape.

Image
Filtered, but it's da sun and mini coast. TBH my cam wouldn't pic up the sun's light, so I had to make it a bit darker

Image
Random pic of the way back to Htown.

LOL Keep your disparaging comments to yourself. There is a reason why there are different (and equally beautiful) terrains and climates. Locations and altitude have everything to do with them. I have seen very beautiful and green landscapes in Somaliland, I just haven't posted them. Would showing you them change your basic and obviously ill-informed opinion? It takes a intelligent, unbiased and open mind to appreciate all the lands of your ancestors. Bidow

Post them there or add to the somaliland pic thread. God knows it needs updating.

Anyways, nice pics. I wanna take a stroll in the old parts of berbera and Zeila. Snap away and just relax. Can't wait till I go back.

It is indeed sad how somalis are sitting on historical cities and towns with a plethora of potential yet their cities look like someone dropped a bomb on them. Maybe there would be more progress if ppl accepted how shit these places are rather than bombarding us with pictures of prideful villas.

Berbera's hot, if I remember, never stopped by but I drove from western sland to northern sland, seen that area first hand. Should have added berbera to my route damn, drive out for a bit to that area smh.

but heard from locals in sland, it has the same heat as djibouti and northern Sland, Ill check out Berbera in a few years maybe establish a house out there.

Is the biyo garaad or caadi  though im assuming everyone drinks water bottles eh.

Im assuming you mean Akhtar  , Somaliland has tons of green spots, I would say starting at around arapsiyo at the southern most tip I suppose.

but most Slanders on somalinet are from Hargiesa and the Eastern spots. Which is why they post photos from those areas.
