Syrian friend just posted this:
Obama is such a f-king idiot. Hello, GOOD MORNING. His policies in Syria are what caused ISIS to spread for 2 f-king years and NOW FINALLY, YEARS LATER he says "we must extract this cancer so it should not spread." Hello!!!! The people of the Middle East were saying this 2 years ago and you and other idiots were saying there is no national security threat to Americans to intervene in Syria. The blood of Jim Foley is on your hands.

If the US had intervened in Syria ISIS would be a lot bigger than it is now, I'm not sure what point he's trying to make. Is he arguing the US should have assisted Assad against ISIS? :?

James the point he is making is that the US should of armed and trained the FSA when they were the strongest rebel movement, and iSIS and JN etc were not much of a force.

Yeah, basically.

But Obama didn't seem too enthused about arming doctors, businessmen, and other regular folk against Assad's forces with Russian/Iranian weapons and training.

The USA did arm and train the moderate Syrian rebel groups, despite public statements to the contrary, it hasn't made much difference, and a lot of those "moderate" groups later defected to ISIS anyways, making the whole exercise pointless.

Also for every dollar the USA sent, Russia and Iran sent 10 dollars and their own special forces, and Gulf Arabs sent 20 dollars to ISIS. The more involved the USA gets, the more money people will send to ISIS, the more involved Iran will get. In this game, the winning move is not to play.

What's going on in Syria has more to do with the khaleej than Obama. The biggest supporters of the opposition and anti Assad isn't the US it's the khaleej. There isn't much Obama could have done in Syria. It's a sad situation but the US is hardly the key antagonist here as people are making it seem.

0Am I the only one who sees the ludicracy of US foreign policy? Saddam and Assad posed no threat and yet, for no reason (OK O.I.L.), the US has spent resources trying to remove both. Now that the US is actually a likely target, from ISIS and a disgruntled Assad, they do nothing?

Bad idea. Assad's stay is an inevitable 'evil' in the long run. Look at Iraq.
