I used to have that feeling too...Sounds like the problem is not sleep, it's the rest. There are many stages to sleep, but suffice to say, yourre prolly not experiencing the stages of sleep required to rest your body and brain..Some said melatonin strips that dissolve in your tongue might help as it encourages rest during sleep, i dunno....What I did was, I would wake up in the morning, get out of bed right away. This was tough to learn, but it's well worth the effort, I don't use the snooze onn your alarm clock, and if u happen to wake up a little early, just wake up...... I would drink coffee right away, a cup or 2..The problem is when you consume it later in the day( or too much overall)...These are just some basics. Some people need to pay closer attention to their sleep than others.
Also 'catching up' on sleep is a myth..There are some situations you might need more sleep, like an illness, but lost sleep is lost forever..If you get few hrs of sleep on a few days, unless it causes some illness, then sleeping for 12 hrs straight wont get you caught up..You just need 7-8 hrs, beyond that you just restart the sleep cycle....6ish hours works for me, the 8 hour thing is not for everyone.. you may need a little more if you're young
