I reckon the rampant mental illness within our communities have a lot to do with PTSD coupled with Somalis reluctance to seek psychiatric help. 9 times out of 10 the parents or relatives a crazy man will get him married off after years of Quran saar.

I think it's more to do with fear of the mentally ill person coming back even worse. For example I knew one man who was on mental illness drugs. The drugs they used to give him made him walk all weird. For example his arms never used to more when he walked. The problem with marrying off someone who is suffering from a mental illness to someone is the notion that marriage will help "fix" them. My concern is the consensus of marrying them off while concealing the fact that he's not all there and hoping for the best.
