I think the south will stabilize in the next five years.
This violence is the last gasp of a dying terror network. The violence of Al kabab is like the last kicks of an being slaughtered.

In the next few years I expect tremendous economic growth. This is the richest region in Somalia, and its people will become well off with increased peace.

I think if Al Shabab weren't around every thing would've been cool.I mean sure there would be some tribes fighting here and there and some qabil bashing but lets not act like that is a Hawiye thing every Somali region does this. The main problem now is AL SHABAB not Hawiye. If they leave then everyone can do their thing as they please.

Not sure if you know this but when you criticize a region, its seen as insult by the people of that region, hell Somalis don't even know the difference between criticizing and qabyaalad. If you're criticizing region you're from that one thing, but otherwise it will be seen as qabyaalad. So please lets try to not destroy General section shall we?

Like I mentioned before, the problem with Somalis is everything is seen as qabiyaalad. Smh. Critisizing our people is not judging a clan, nor is it politics.

Anyways, Bariiska, I agree. It's disgusting what happened, but you know there has been mighty improvements from even 5 years ago, alhamdulillah. So even though there are set-backs, and even if it doesn't happen in our lifetime, it may happen for our children. Stay hopeful, we are not a lost cause.

For there to be peace in Somalia south of Gaalkacyo particularly there must be the following:
· the violent extremism of al shaydaan must be defeated
· the vertical and horizontal systems of governance must be solved with the broadest approval via consensus
· a civic education taught to the population to learn citizenship and fight tribalism
