I can tell you its one of the oldest Somaliland towns with some of the oldest muslim mosques. the capital of adal empire led by ahmed gurey. it has more 10 beutifull islands sacadadiin is the largest and the most exotic one. between saylac and borama there is a semi desert known as banka geeriyaad. between saylac and lughaya there are several breathtaking beachs with amazing sand dunes. Go to saylac see the difference !

Its not ghost town the population of saylac is between 25-30 thousand people. over 12 thousand people voted in the 2003 local elections. thats more than 10 years ago !

My abti went there in last yr its nice .. There a masjid that faces jerusalam its in ruins but the community plan on rebuliding it
