It makes sense for the UAE to oppose Daesh. Daesh is destabilizing the region and could potentially undermine UAE's world class economy. And of course UAE is partnering with Kenya. Kenya is a country that is stable, with a growing economy and influence on the continent. Somalia is the street urchin of Africa. It doesn't matter that Somalis worship Allah, nobody needs an economically destitute, politically corrupt parasite as an ally.

Do you think Turkey's foreign policy is dictated by who controls Kismayo or the participation of the KDF forces in Jubada Hoose? Kenya and Turkey forge stronger ties

NAIROBI, Kenya - Kenya and Turkey are looking into ways of enhancing trade and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Turkey has identified Kenya as an important gateway to Africa and is closely engaging both the government and the business community with its sights set on investment and other trade opportunities in Kenya and the region. In less than a year, there have been two business delegations from Turkey to Kenya, just highlighting the growing interest.

Discussions for cementing this relationship took centre stage during the just concluded Second Africa-Turkey Partnership Summit held at the West African capital of Equatorial Guinea.

The summit brought together African Heads of State and Government and high ranking Turkish officials led by none other than the country’s president Recep Tayyid Erdogan.

The Kenyan delegation to the conference was led by Kenya’s Foreign Secretary and Minister for International Trade Amina Mohamed.

Themed “New Model of Partnership for the Strengthening of Sustainable Development and Integration,” the summit deliberated the progress of the Africa-Turkey Partnership since the First Africa-Turkey Summit which was held in Istanbul, in April 2008 with participation of 49 countries.

The highlight of the summit was the adoption of the Joint Implementation Plan of Africa-Turkey Partnership for the period 2015-2018. The Joint Implementation Plan focuses on the execution of key projects identified as priority areas of cooperation between African countries and Turkey.

The key projects are drawn from the main areas of cooperation which include trade and investment, agriculture, health, peace and security, infrastructure development and tourism. She said the co-operation between Africa and Turkey will facilitate the realization of Africa’s Agenda 2063 and the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
