Centuries ago, there was a poor Isaaq man who had many daughters. He went to an Ogadeen noble and asked him for food, and in exchange the Ogadeen man would choose (doorasho) which daughter he wanted. Hence the name "Iidoor."

darood lies again

how can isaaq man go to darod man who lives in a barren wasteland with no access to port for food

the truth is that isaaq traders from berbera used to sell things like sugar, timir and other items for geela long foot. Hence ii door i,e exchange for me

This nonsense about poor isaaq (isaaq richest somali clan for the last 200 years and today) to a cagdheer with no shoes for food is nonsense like everything these jebartis make up

Why would someone who's in a dominating position with commodities like rice, dates, sugar, clothes give away his daughters?

The term Iidoor comes from the two words ii door i.e choose for me. People use to barter and since Isaaq had the upper hand they would choose for the opposite side.

Btw, It was Ogaden who use to give away their daughters, that's why many Isaaq got Cagdheer blood somewhere along the line including myself. Isaaq didn't give their daughters to others back then because they had principles and values that they lost the last 60 years.

If you want to know Hodan and hilaac who is closer to the truth watch and listen this AMAZING LIfe story clip. Its a A Ogaden writer/journalist talking about his early life in 7 minutes. he descripes how the ethiopian occupation killed his father and he grew up as orphan geeljire kid, and how he met his mother (isaaq woman from hargeisa) after so many years while he was feeding the Camel. he said
Anigoo ceel darkiisa taagan baa ruux dumar ahi oo aanan markaasi kasayn intay magacaygii iigu yeedhay haw soo tidhi, oo dhunkasho labada daan igaga nabtay. Waxay ahayd maalintii iigu horaysay ee intii aan garaad lahaa qof I dhunkado, jidhidhicaa tin iyo cidhiba I roortay. HOOYO miyaanad I garanayn ! Intay hadal iigu horay siisay bay TIMIR AY MARADA DACAlKEEDA KASOO FURTAY GACANTA KORKEEDA IIGU RIDAY, kor markii aan eegay waxan arkay labadeeda indhood oo ilmo kasoo booday, dareenkii qalbigayga dafayeyey waxa I hilmaansiiyey MACAANKII TIMIRTA. Maxaa yeelay waxay ahayd maalinti timir dhadhamo daayoo arageeda iigu horaysay
and thats not long time ago ! Its clear indication that we isaaqs first introduced TIMIR to ogadens.

How can the term be good, when it's used as an insult?
Iidors are something else.

"idoor" is not an insult. But the way i see it is the sound of the word that is funny hence other thinking of it as an insult. It is more of making fun of the word than the meaning its self. But I dont care cos am bad ass idoor!
