KTS23.....if Somali's thought they could refugee status for being atheist........99% would follow you overnight.

Mate, I bet they haven't cottoned on to it yet. KTS23 should set up a Somali Atheist Organisation in Canada and charge prospective Qaxootis for ascertaining that they are genuine refugees fleeing persecution on account of their Gaalnimo.

KTS, not according to the 'constitution' of any Somali territory, if you are not a Muslim, you are next to nothing back home. It is just not a personal belief but State sanctioned discrimination of non-Muslims. There is no secularism, the only Gaal that is welcome is the one that works for aid organisation, oil companies, UN etc. A Somali Gaal is condemned back home if they choose to return and will have to accept being a second class citizen if not killed by a random Muslim who believes they are carrying out their religious duty.

Somalia is the toilet of the world. It is a sh*t hole. Somalia is over. It finished in 1991. The remaining resources would get robbed or sold illegally. Somalia is the worse country on earth. People know it, and the somali people know it is too late to fix somaila. Somaliland is the way forward. If not then stay in your European or american countries.

You do realize that Puntland State is just as functional as Somaliland, and it's self-governing....And if you were a TRUE PATRIOT (which you're not) but if you were a true patriot, you would propose uniting Somaliland with Puntland. Since both of these regions are self-governing and fully functional and they're both SOMALI, then why keep them separate from each other? Why not just unite them and call it, "The Republic of North Somalia"

That new country would stretch from Borama all the way to Galkacyo, and would have a relative degree of peace and prosperity.

Its not attainable as things stand.

We see things through qabil tinted lenses and even the holy qur'an is not safe from such abuse.

Saaxib, anything can be abused. Not just religion. Even in the days of Siad Barre....secularism was badly abused. In Somaliland, it's been reported that democracy is often badly abused. University systems in Somalia are badly abused, where corrupt Deans look to line their own pockets instead of educating their students. Even xawaalads are not safe from corruption. Somalis have a culture of corruption which will take generations to remove. But that doesn't mean we should ignore practical solutions to our very real problems.

Somalia needs Shariah. And I think the best application of Shariah is using federalism. Each Federal State in Somalia applies the Shariah in a way which they see fit....following the moderate stance of the vast majority of Muslims (Ahl Sunnah wal jama'a)....and avoiding the extremism of Al Shabab and the laxity of secular nations. We are a Muslim society and we should maintain it like that. Yes it's certainly possible that corrupt Government officials will abuse the Shariah, but that shouldn't stop us from applying it.

Why are you even bothering debating about religious intolerance in the Fatherlands. It is an established fact. You are in a progressive, secular tolerant country by Western standards that allows you to live to your full Gaal potential. When the shit hits the fan in the West and Muslims officially become the new 'Jews', no one will be looking to bake you in an oven. You actually believe that the Taliban's application of the law is real Shariah? Are you kidding me? Numerous Muslim scholars around the world (a vast majority) harshly condemn the Taliban's rule. And they also condemn Saudi Arabia's rule as well. There's bigger factors at play here and if you think that these countries practice real Shariah then you're mistaking yourself.

Men such as Umar bin Khattab practiced real Shariah. So did Uthman ibn Affan. So did the early Umayyad and Abbasid Empires. So did the Somali Ajuuraan Empire and the Adal Sultanate.

May Allah have mercy on them all. Those men were real men, and I hope we can one day live up to their examples inshaallah
