To criticize a particular scholar on particular position is understandable, to attack Somali Scholars based on the title and the role they play in our society is an indirect attack on the ideals they hold.

Walaalo I watched the whole video and I didn't see him call for the killing of the author. Marka hore diinta aqoon uma laho, laakin from what little I know it is not allowed to kill anyone (including someone committed murder in front of you) without due process in court. What I see in this video is a man exposing the blatant lies of another man. The book's cover is grotesque, and that in itself should be a clue to the low quality of the book. Sheekha xumaan kuma arag in this video (admittedly, I don't listen to many Islamic lectures so I don't know of too many Sheikhs).

Many (not all) Orientalists are veiled Islamophobes, and to me, Islamophobes and Islamic extremists are two sides of the same coin. I'm not interested in their rhetoric and insults, and I wish they allowed us to practice our faith in peace without playing "tug-of-war" with the majority of the Muslims like you and me.

Sheikh is an individual.we can critique every single somali person of influence. I dont think you will find a person who has been as outspoken of mistreatment of somalis by alshabab, ethiopia, kenya and somali warlords than sheikh umal.he is not perfect.but he is a somali of reasonable stature and influenfe in the community. I dont believe kenya cares whether he is a salafi or talafi or a xalwo eating sufi. One does not need to read the whole book to find misinformation in the book. I think the Shaikh stated the parts of the book that contained misinformation. I think that's fair.

The biggest threat to our people is UMUL et al. The wahabists who have embraced it; imported it in somalia(AFrica) and use it as a mechanism of faith are to blame for the plight of muslims.

A good scholar (muslim or not) would read the whole book, be prudent in the way he chooses his words and argues for his case. He does not engage in outright condemnation.

If islamic scholarship is measured in the way sheikhs talk... then there is a huge problem. Check the islamic databases on scholarship and do a statistics on how many papers/books on islam he has published; Publish it here and then we can argue
