Balkanization vs Expansion in east Africa

Postby uglybrother » Mon Apr 20, 2015 4:28 pm

Why are Somalis the only people in east Africa who are interested in balkanizing their own country into smaller regions? This never made sense to me. Look at Kenya and Ethiopia and both of this countries have a developed a policy of expansion rather fragmentation of what they already have. They want to expand into Somalia and acquire more land while Somalis want to break down the little bit they have into even smaller portions controlled by warlords. :mindblown: Let's recap:

Somaliland
Puntland
Jubaland
Central State

All these states want to act like they are a country of their own. Like how embarrassing is it to have a representative from central state and one from puntland near you when you are representing Somalia? I'd cringe wallahi.

Somalis need to wake up and realize that all the people who live near us all want to expand into our lands. They already posses somali inhabited lands and that is not enough for them. They want to expand while want break down. :x

So my question is why are we interested in balkanization while the rest of the world including Ethiopia and kenya are encraoching into our lands?

i never gave the darwinian theory a chance when it addressed nature , because it went against all i believed in. but using it as a political and social tool it works. as somalis we are primative culturally and politically, we are slowly evolving at a snails rate. but finally alot of us are starting to wake up, just look back 6 years no body really spoke of somalia the way we are today.

I just don't understand how we can be so stupid as a country. It looks majority of Somalis want something like federalism but how will that work on people who can't even agree on anything? Federalism entails debates on policies when they conflict, checks and balance and other ideas that will never convince a Somali. What do somalis know about checks and balances? Nothing at all! We're getting attacked from every corner and we actually assist our invaders. :mindblown: Can someone explain this to me?

Brother sxb, it's frustrating but it's part of Somali politics. For alot of people, Qabiil comes before ur Wadan. Don't let it get to you or lose any sleep over it. Somalia ayadaa is xalineeso, it fix itself.

Also u have to understand Ethiopia and Kenya have bigger population than us and are more developed than us, so they would naturally dominate us.

please dont mention or include somaliland, a separate country, in your discussion about the fragmented, barbaric and lawless "country" called zoomalia which once was the former italian colony and is now in reality a collection of sovereign clan fiefdoms

The smaller the country the better.

Why not divide the whole of Somalia based on clan lines too?
