What Idman asked is a fair and legitimate question. It is responsibility of every Muslim to make his (or her) best effort to be considerate and make the salat of others more pleasant. And hygiene is a big component in Islam.

Update on the situation..

I wrote an email to the imaam and he got back to me. He will talk about it tonight before taraweeh inshallah..
