In every major scientific and engineering field they have the best of the best. Most of the startups in Silicon valley is by them. Indians aren't clever on average, it's just that there are so many of them. 1% of India is already 12.5 million and most of these elites flee the country (can be found in Silicon Valley, Singapore etc).

The ones you see in Silicon Valley are in no way similar to most Indians.

I live in the UK, they fill every senior management role for every business and government position. Almost every doctor or surgeon i have ever known is either indian or paki/bengali. Exactly, they aren't as smart as everyone makes them out to be. The average Indian has an IQ of 80 and could never compete with the average East Asian, but because only the brightest & richest can immigrate and they have the second largest populace in the world they obviously produce a large amount of exceptions to the rule. This is also the reason why Nigerians and Egyptians are the most educated group in the U.S.
