As I am deputising for Herr Itrah who is on sabatical leave, I must represent Jamacatul DNA in this thread. There is some evidence to indicate that Harti share a common ancestor as close to 90 percent of them tested show little haplogroup divergence.

As for the Dir clan, some slanderous statements are not worth responding to. It is not a coincidence that Surres from the Dirty South and Ciises from the most Northern Somali territory share a common haplogroup. More importantly that ancestor has been estimated to have existed within the past two thousand years. There is more diversity within large subclans than a tribal umbrella. Most members of tribal umbrellas such as Dir and Darood have been shown to belong to the same haplogroup and a full y chromosome scan will highlight how closely related their constituent subclans are.
