Shirib Still here - Update on that Lean Initiative

Postby gegiroor » Tue Sep 22, 2015 2:29 pm

Bro Shirib, if you remember few months back, I told you about a Lean Initiative in the area that I was working. Well, apparently, it was not about process improvement; it was just an excuse. They want to destroy management in this place. After reviewing the processes in place, the team, and projects in the pipeline, they demanded every manager, director, and AVP to reapply their job. The department is broken into small units and given to different departments.

Now, if you don't mind me asking, did you experience a similar issue when your team implemented LEAN in your department?

Apparently, it was not about removal of waste in the process. It seems it was all about score settling between big boys, and LEAN was the means to get there in order to justify the dismissal that was about to occur. Man, corporate America is cruel.

Lean is either a sucess or a catastrophy. The problem is it is based on the japanese way of working so when you apply it on western companies it gets difficult. also many companies dont have a clue about lean it is important to do it in the right way. I can send you tons of articles of sucessful lean implementations in the states if you are interested

Gegiroor, hadalka noo jilci walaal. Waxaan nahay Geeljireyaale.
CaliQase, it is a management process that is used in businesses where apparently they review how units, groups, and departments do their work. The intention is eliminate waste while getting more work done with fewer resources.

Tuushi - no need PMs in this instance. It is about a discussion on this process where the last place that I worked claimed to be implementing as it should have been done, but turned out to be an excuse where one executive used it as way of eliminating an AVP (Associate vice president), and all of the directors and managers below him. So if you don't me asking you, how is this a PM?

You see Tuushi if you're asking me to send you a PM, I will be glad to send it to you. Just confirm it and let me know that is what you really meant. As a matter fact, I will go ahead and send you one :)

Warsheekh: You can send them to me bro. I was explaining how they used that process to get rid off management while initially claiming that they will find waste and improve process.

I always make sure to be on the inside track and join committees for the sake of joining committees so I have my ear out for changes.

I don't think so due to the fact that labor is very cheap in Somalia and taxes are much more lower as well.
