Somaliland has a lot of leverage considering ethiopias current Djibouti arrangement isn't sufficient for their growing export market which is limited by their reliance on a single port. Ethiopia needs somaliland because it's the closest port to Ethiopias major population centres like adis ababa, diredawa and Gondar that will eventually host industrial zones. Other ports in Kenya and Sudan are too far away, not to mention those regions have some of the toughest terrains in Africa and Ethiopia ain't got the money to create thousands of kilometres of tracks in some of the most remote places on earth . If Ethiopia gains another port partner in somaliland, then it would be easier for Ethiopia to attract foreign investment. Somaliland is in a great position right now.
