Nah. It doesn't sound as good as when you read it in Somali.

The Somali language needs a reformation that is long overdue.

The two letters that make things look unpleasant to the eye and take up more space and time to write would now be replaced by diacritics.

Hooyo=Hóyo
Aabo=Àbo

Hooyo=Höyo
Aabo=Äbo

We can use either one but I prefer the two dots over the accents.

The accents can instead be used for tonic words like Inan- Male Inán-Female.

Xukumadda Madaxweyne Siilaanyo ayaa la sheegay inay qorshaysay sidii siyaasiyiinta

Xukumaḑa Madaxweyne Sílányo ayá la shégay inay qorshaysay sidí siyásiyínta

Xukumaḑa Madaxweyne Sïlänyo ayä la shëgay inay qorshaysay sidï siyäsiyïnta

or we can make up or own new script that looks like the cool alien ones in the movies. :mrgreen:

Just adopt the Kaddare script, it was held to be the best Somali indigenous script.

Arabic is too problematic.

We need our own script.
Arabic script that is modified for Somali similar to what Urdu and Farsi did would have been ideal
Adeer... this is Galal (AUN) modified version of the Arabic script.

Image

We used vowels unlike Modern standard arabic prior to Galal (AUN) modification. Also in Somali, we omitted the use of 4 letters... ذ ض ص لا ظ ز
We should use all of the letters of the Arabic script, in order to convey loan words.
غ is a G in Somali Arabic version.

This is the Persian modified script.
Image

THey added 4 additional characters.
پ
چ
ژ
گ

Urdu script

This is a poem from Shiekh awees al Barawe (AUN). He wrote this in his dialect (AF MAAY MAAY). Notice the use of vowels.

Image

Af Maay Maay contain special vowels/consonants such as We need to represent.... P JH TH GH NG Y'
Also how can illustrate our various tones ? Such as Inan (boy) and Inán (girl), Beer (liver) and Beer (farm) ??
