This is how Somalis look at it. if a boy does faaxisha , Zina etc, He can always get a second chance in society. Also, his sins will not affect his brothers or sisters even if he turns Qowmu Luud. if the sister takes the wrong route, she will not get a second chance once she is branded Dh*ilo or Sharmuuto even after 40 years. Also, her sins will affect her sisters because people will assume reerkii gabar ka dhilawdo waa wada dhilooyin gabdhahooda. So Somalis are over protective of the girls because a girl is a thin glass. Once a thin glass get fractured, it become useless. Also, the only valuable thing a girl has is her dignity. If that is stained, she is gone forever.
