you should know that from all major clans there are christian and other non-Muslim folks who are ethnic somalis - but they're only few and far between

yeah you are right. there are many losts ones out there but doesn't ethnic Somalis becoming Christians seems like a serious downgrade to you? The cawaan from Africa and the Amazon with no form of civilization needed to upgrade from their savage life to Christianity. why would someone who's ancestors were Muslim for more than 1000 years convert to Christianity?

The Issaq christians are for the most part dead , they were kids of the missionary .As you may not know , the catholic missionaries specially the jesuits which what the current Pope is , were very involved in education . Most somalis were opposed to education or learning the language of the "infidel" but like everything else in life it wasn't without exception .Some northerners were turned off by the Jihaad that was taken place under he leadership of the dervishes and just like today you have somali muslims converting to christianity , these old nomads placed their children under the care of the missionary in hopes of a better future for their off springs . They were all better educated and less tribalistic than the rest of the crop that's for sure .
The Issaq are different in the sense where they are more tolerant than the rest of the somalis and no matter whether one believes in a God of a different denomination or no God at all , you are still a member of your tribe. If I were to choose my religion on the conduct of its followers , I would never have been a muslim
