Postby buule1311 » Thu Jul 07, 2016 5:00 am

When are the elections going to take place in Mogadishu? I heard rumours it's going to be next month (August). Plus, could someone please list out all candidates taking part of the elections.

thanks in advance

I have good and bad news for you.

The bad news is that none of these will be on time, except (hopefully) the Presidential election. The good news is...the process has already gone underway within the informal circles.

The issue is that the formal process is taking too long to declare the winners. This is because of the lack of institutional strength and corruption. Our electoral system is still subject to the whims and desires of elders, stakeholders, and candidates. Each one of them will try to milk the system as much as they can.

Until then, we wait.

It looks like it's set for Nov. 7. Here's the schedule in Somali.
