Clans don't exist?

Postby soonoqoda » Mon Jul 11, 2016 4:19 pm

I was doing a bit more research on this whole clan founder thing because i was becoming a bit more sceptical about an arabian man coming from yemen to marry somalis and i came across this website.

http://anthromadness.blogspot.co.uk/201 ... re-of.html

They seem to be really interested as well, they spotted a few mistakes with the timing of the deaths of the Darod founder and the establishment of the Warsangeli Sultanate.

I myself was a bit confused at this post = https://www.somalinet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=304266

Sheekh Isaaq's grandfather died around 1111 but Sheekh Isaaq died around 1326 at 57 years old

Basic maths tells us he was born on 1269, so his dad had to be alive around his grandfather's time which places 158 years, but to give a more appropriate estimate assuming he was born near his fathers death, so around 160 years

The only way to truly find out is for a dna test to take place with a sample from Isaaq himself, although that is very controversial as well as dna samples from around 100 people from each of the major subclans of Isaaq

What does everyone else think?

There is not doubt that Somali genealogies are fake! to begin with, its absurd to believe that ultimately the entire Somali population around the globe descended from a few founding fathers. Its something which we adopted from the Arabs and developed over time hence the mistakes in the genealogies. I think somalis (the vast majority of them anyway) are only actually related at the dia-paying level and anything above that is nonsense.

How do you explain the similarities in our looks if we are not related or hail from the same dad?

Well the warsangeli can be wrong about the establishment of their Sultanate its way to early.

I do agree There are Shaagato in Somali clans, and Non Somali clans who claimed Somalinimo..but clans do
