My assessment on Soukhal Galbeed (West Burco)

Postby JSLHistorian » Thu Sep 15, 2016 4:18 pm

Positives: It has become a business magnet, everyone wants to build a hotel here specially in wadada Oodweyne,
it is becoming one of the most desired and busiest areas in Burco. Many hotels line up all the way to Tuurta such as
Libaan , Huruuse & Nasiye further south and several others under construction such as Daryeel headquarters,
Telesom(under construction) & others. Shops and fuel stations are open late night 24 hrs, you can find anything
you want. Suuqa Oodweyne is vibrant as well a large market behind Libaan hotel you can find anything from
mobile phones to khamees, cooling fans etc. Overall I am impressed. The area is becoming like New Hargeisa
(where all kinds of H-Y are opening businesses).

Negatives: Other than a couple of the main roads that are okay, the rest of the roads are too sandy and not paved.
I will post the pictures shortly.

Libaan hotel is a good example that a hotel can be good for the local economy, most of the people working there are the local youth
from the receptionist to the chief. God bless Sheikh Maxamud Axmed Libaan for creating jobs for the locals.

This road is the most ideal place to build big companies headquarters. It's also adjacent to the biggest market in the town. Suuq galbeed hosts the biggest commercial area in burao plus the biggest livestock market in the horn .

Burao is a well planned city, it has European style suburbs in all corners of the city. Most of these villages hosts the diaspora communities, some others hosts Somaliland own poor community and the southern Somali refugees locally known as REER WAAJs. This is good segregation because refugee NGOs don't find hard to locate and help displaced people . The reer waajids contribute three things (1) begging (2) selling affordable products (3) cheap and skilled labour force.

Old residential areas like the airport road and hodan qaylo, are now turned into markets hosting many family owned shops, restaurants, late late tea shops and marfishs. The interesting thing is each local transportation Union have its own road to operate . Busses can serve only for certain areas like Ex October, tuurta and some other places. Dukhaans (taxi), have monopoly over Gaha road. Bajaajs work hodan qaylo main road, Plaza and saylada.

Good input Yuusuf143 I guess you noticed how busy this area is as well, it is where the money is at. I have went to other major
roads in Burco but they are not as vibrant as wadada Oodweyne for some reason properly due to the location. Businesses only
care about two things, which is good location and large amount of customers access. That is why Telesom, Daryeel all the
Hargeisa companies are coming to this road.

Waryaa be happy for this particular area xinka hablaha jooji, I have posted about New Hargeisa as well earlier in a different
topic. Every xafaad will be assessed (well those I travel to). You will have get used to the fact Burco has its own distinct
neighborhoods just like Hargeisa has different neighborhoods/districts.
