I've known for the longest time that afkeena soomaliga contained some english, arabic, italian etc. loan words. And that all languages on this planet borrow words or phrases from their neighbouring (or atleast somewhat close by) countries and cultures.
But I honestly never ever guessed we also have somali words that are so similar to chinese language as well. Mostly because these two languages are geographically very far apart from each other. However maybe it's a much smaller world after all.
Ever since I recently learned a little bit of chinese language. I can't help but think it's too funny and so completly weird. That the chinese word 走 (written as zoû but pronounced more like so'o) means walk, leave, exit, move etc. is just like erayga soco.
And the chinese word 没有 (méi-yûo) is very similar to the somali word maya. They are both used for saying no.
The two words 走把 (zoû & bǎ pronounced so'o baa') together mean let's/go to, and is used basically same way as soo bax.
Also the word 是谁 (shí shuí) is pronounced pretty much like shisheeye. Even if it in chinese means "who is it/ who's there?" It's actually not that much different from our somali word meaning stranger.

Re: Somali language etymology
Off the top of my head Korean:
- One of the words to refer yourself is naega, (nee-ga) and in somali its aniga, although niga in korean means you.
- Get out is naga, in somali it's neega bax (although ga is leave in korean and bax is in somali)
- Head/hair is moeri (slight "r") and somali is mallax
-Dog is gae, somali is aye.
Greek:
-The word for a city is megalopolis, in somali it's magalo
-Hair is malaax, head in somali is malaax
-Grandma is ayeeye, in somali its ayeeye or ayeeyo
and much more...(ancient egypt did colonize them)
