I dont care if you accept my deal or not. The real fact is until you show us sources, nobody will believe you.No deal

I agree with you.Soviet Union, Cuba, and the Warsaw pact intervened militarily and drove the Somalis out.
Not only that, Carter sent arms/weapons to Ethiopia via Israel. It was a rare instance of history where 2 rival superpowers ganged up against a country.Secondly, it was backstabbing of former American President, an Evangelical Christian, Jimmy Carter who backstabbed us when he refused to deliver those arms to us.
Most of the african countries were against Barre foray because African Union did not and still does not accept a violent change of borders.

Specifically within the complex regional framework, the United States tried to establish a policy of continuing arms supplies to Ethiopia, but in a manner that would not deteriorate its relationships with the moderate Arabs.
Jimmy Carter in Africa: Race and the Cold War @ Google BooksBegin had come the White House bearing a message from Ethiopia's Mengistu. Worried about the insurgencies in Eritrea and Ogaden, cut off from the US arms pipeline, and waiting for more supplies from Moscow, Mengistu needed military aid. Begin asked Carter to reverse his decision to cut off US aid to Ethiopia. He also asked for approval for Israel to send Mengistu the US fighter planes and transport assistance that the Ethiopians had requested.

"Siad admitted, drawing deeply on his cigarette. We can not fight against Soviet weaponry, tanks and aircraft".The US intelligence community concurred: The Ethiopians and Cubans.....(will achieve) a more rapid victory than previously seemed likely".
"It was the rout of his troops on the battlefield, not Washington threats and promises, that had convinced Siad to wave the white flag"
