New documents that were obtained by 11Alive in Atlanta have now detailed the arrest of a man that police said is a well-known affiliate of a local gang. He’s also being accused of molesting a young boy only to gain his initiation into their group.
According to six warrants, Antonio Lamar Banks, 25, is now being accused of kidnapping, aggravated child molestation and criminal gang activity for incidents that allegedly took place inside a Lithonia home back in the spring of last year.
According to documents, Banks burned the child with a lit cigarette and later forced him to partake in lewd acts as part of his own gang initiation.
DeKalb County Police told 11Alive’s Duffie Dixon that Banks is “associated, in fact, with the gang Gangster Disciples.”
Federal authorities have now listed the Gangster Disciples as one of their major nationwide gangs with associated ties to Atlanta. Only last year, agents arrested more than 50 individuals that they’d believed to be members of the gang, accusing the men of multiple murders, robbery, carjacking and trafficking drugs.
A former DeKalb County Police officer, Vancito Gumbs, has also been accused of being hired as a hitman for the gang.
