The new PM is calling for peace talks with Eritrea.
Eritrea is saying, first follow international law, and give us Badme, the small dusty town that was allegedly the reason the two countries fought a major war over from 1998 to 2000, that took up to 70,000 lives from both sides.
What do you guys think?
I think, if badme is given up, it shows,
1. Tplf is so weak that it will do anything to secure Eritrean support, or at the very least, their indifference. They may even try to once again suggest an union between tigray and the mostly Christian highlands of Eritrea, perhaps even the entire Eritrea, and they'll begin to further displace afar and oppress Muslims of Eritrea.
The Muslim of Eritrea never liked the alliance of tplf and eplf, and they have every reason not to. They felt relieved at the fact these two became enemies.
2. They no longer care what the people of Tigray think. Unless they somehow convince tigrayans that the rest o Ethiopia poses a danger and only refuge with Eritrea can save them.
You see, if Eritrea had, by chance, invaded Oromia, or Somali state, or Afar, they wouldn't have reacted with such force. Since the invasion took place in their homeland, they had no Choice.
Eritreas president said give us badme and negotiations can start in the afternoon....
We'll see how Ethiopia responds....
