Its very easy to be hard headed argue for the recognition of Somaliland in a very hardliner kind of fashion when you are in the west and not directly effected by the consequences, or when you are a direct beneficiary of the ruling elite inside SL regardless of which faction you belong to be it Wadani, Kulmiye, Khatumo etc. But on the ground there is real consequence of these kind of policies, and it effects the ordinary young people the most, this is why there is a rise in Tahriib, rise in people with the same mentality as Naciima Qorane, and rise in political opposition like Wadani, all these things will effect the unity and prosperity of SL, its like you are walking blindly into the abyss.
not directly affected? i dont know about you but somalilanders are attached to their land , most of us travel to it every year and more and more of us are moving back permanenelty.
Half my family have moved back, even my younger brother lives in burco permanently for the past 7 years.
and tahriib? its a direct consequence of lack of recognition, we are missing out on so much.
Recognition would help alleviate the symptoms but our biggest problem is lack of vision and general incompetence of our government, and the overbearing influence of the parasitic oligharchal class.
There is nothing wrong with opposition, we need a stronger opposition to keep the government in check, otherwise it will start behaving inappropriately.
