Why did the assembly seats go from majority Issa to Afar from 1950 to 1958? Political shenanigans by the French, of course. Issa were restless and were seeking independence but the French thought otherwise and rewarded their docile friendlies the Afars majority of the seats.
By 1959 it was a moot point and Issa regrouped and overwhelmed the Afars/Bucur Bacayrs as can be attested with the election of Hassan Gouled Aptidon (AUN) to the French national assembly. Subsequent MPs to the French national assembly were all Issa: Moussa Ahmed Idriss, Moussa Ali Abdoulkader and Omar Farah Iltireh. The writing was on the wall and the French knew this, no matter how hard they tried to prop up Afars/Arabs/Bucur Bacayr coalition destiny pointed at a different direction. Issa countered with numbers (though many were deported to Ethiopia and Somalia) this unholy coalition which led to ultimately Djibouti's independence.

We not only abandoned our country in order to liberate enslaved Zoomalis, including your scavenger clan, but every war with Ethiopia (1964 and 1977/78) Isaaq single-handedly took a lions share in terms of soldiers & officers on the battlefield but also financing the wars through private donations.

Isaaq literally controlled every inch of Somaliland when the country gained its independence. Why would we abandon a country we completely owned and controlled unless it was for a more noble cause?
When it comes to Ethiopia.. Isaaq are preoccupied with Somaliland including the ones living in Ethiopia. They couldnt care less.

Your statement addressing the fact that the elections of Djibooty did not reflect the demographics is correct. The French thought the Ciise and Afar were pro French rule in contrast to the Somalis (in reality Isaaq and the minor Gudabiirsi). However when the French realised that alot of Ciise Waraabe supported Xarbi they rigged the elections in favor of Afar and assasinated Xarbi while deporting thousands of Isaaq who perished in the uninhabitable desert (hell) between Djibooty-Somaliland called 'Geeriyaad'
