Italian news paper picture in 1958, Adan Loow was a tall man

Postby Voltage » Thu Nov 14, 2019 4:05 pm

Have you guys ever noticed we don't have any relevant real time information of Somalia before 1960?

All you have are mythologies; many of which built up as a resentful counter-narrative to the overwhelming domination of Marehan in the Kacaan.

A lot of that missing information is attributable to the fact all the info is in Italian and we are not an Italian speaking people anymore.

That's why I have developed the hobby to start scrolling through Italian historical and newspaper archives for real records.

Recently I came across this article about Adan Loow representing the Somali people in his capacity as Interior Minister during the Trusteeship.

I was surprised there was a picture and just how tall he was. Dude was a giant.

This is Adan Loow in 1943 in Macerata Province, Itay.

He was fighting with the Partisans against the Fascists in WWII in Italy.

The two Blacks in the middle are Ethiopians/Eritreans called Carletto Abbamagal and Abbagiru Abbauagi.

Adan Shire Jama aka Adan Loow is all the way in the Right

Interesting stuff Voltage and a good find.

Presumably this photo was taken at the start of 1943 (as Carletto Abbamagal died in the same year). Once again, interesting find.

I remember someone sharing a book about Aadan Low. I couldn’t remember the title but I think it was written by his daughter. Is Aadan Low alive ? Is he reer Kooshin?

If this man was isaaq the daarood would be the first to cry about colonialism and Ingiriis this and that. Just this month the daarood in twitter went into probaganda feast claiming remembering the Somali veterans in the 2nd war as cooning . They plastered Cumar Ku Jog's memorial monument all over claiming it's Gaalo Raacnino.

Doofaar ismaaciil and their hate is unlimited.

Adan Loow was fighting against the Italian government, not for them.

He was a student in Italy at that time, having decided to take advantage of educating himself after he was evacuated to Italy for treatment following injuries he sustained in the 2nd Italo-Abbysinian War; a war whose first shot was fired by him in revenge for his people.

While a student in Italy, WWII began and Adan Loow joined the Partisans; the anti-fascist, anti-colonialism homegrown Italian resistance to Mussolini.

He was Farmaajo's cousin, waa reer Dalal. He died in 1973. He was Minister of Justice when the coup happened in 1969.

This is his daughter's book

That book is entrenched in uncomfortable bitterness. Where her emotional feelings cloud the actual factual circumstances related to her father. She blames her father's death on MSB. Disappointing really.

He was in Italy fighting fascism, no different then Cumar Ku Joog was fighting it in his Berbera region.

But its strange how always daarood find minute details to justify their actions while deride other clan's with made up lies.

Majority of daarood in Italian Somalia were fighting for the facist, with the exception of few like Low ( why the extra voul) .
