The mineral and hydrocarbon resources in the Gedo region are abundant but unfortunately like the rest of Somalia it's been largely unexplored. The size of the region is similar to that of a small country and is bigger than the lower and middle jubbas combined, so the landmass itself along with the geological makeup guarantees significant deposits of natural resources along with the two rivers of the Daua and the Jubba (Largest freshwater body in the country) and borders with both Kenya and Ethiopia it's quite strategic on many fronts. The lack of exploration however will change as the situation shifts. The security in the region is as strong as ever and continuing to improve and the region also has great political stability since the district commissioners of nearly all districts have agreed to work together and met with the top echelon of the Federal Government to devise a sensible and success-oriented strategy going forward.
