warsangeli need to renovate the tuna factory and kick out the illegal yemeni fishermen. no yemeni would allow a somali to fish in yemeni seas we need to do the same.

lasqoray has a lot of potential the factory just needs equipment and renovation, i hope warsangeli do this.

No point, darod need to build up their land. Las qoray needs life. No point in a tuna factory since every coastal village and town and city in the horn now has a tuna factory, they need another idea.

The problem is the tuna factory was given to them by siyaad barre who diverted it from hobyo tuna factory lol, so unless they got someone like that willing to give them free stuff, they will have to roll up their sleeves.

The only problem is their community is tiny and their very small diaspora population is one of the most qabiilest- literally famous for YouTube fkd like shine and the two wasakhgeli fellas from America, they don’t have business people and they pushed away all Somalis (non darods) - the only problem is darod itself isn’t known for business of money lol, the dhulo and the mareexan are also struggling, the mj is throwing everything at bosaso port and the cagdheers got nothing in their pocket since futomaajo cracked down on cagdheer charcoal exports to kenya lol.

Interesting video. I didn't know the famous Laas Qoray tuna factory was compact, had less machinery & much of the work done manually. Its canned tuna was among the best quality, rivaling or equaling the best Italian canned tuna. Bari has a lot of potential, but there's rampant corruption, lack of ambition & good work ethic, etc as in some other regions. Hopefully, the young generation would change it for better.

My brother just married a darod girl bro, I love my darod brothers and sisters. I think maybe my words were a bit too truthful so they hurt your feelings but it wasn’t my intention.

i was also surprised at how intact the buildings look. warsangali probably just need 1 to 2 million dollars to renovate and buy the equipment and they could sell canned tuna all across somalia and Ethiopia.

i think it might have to do with the underground water being a bit salty. thus not able to sustain large populations.

This is a video of Habo Tuna Factory located in Xabo Bari Region. It employs up to 1500 people in puntland and is 1 of the 2 fish processing plants of the state the other being Las Qorey, qandala and xabo fishery plant.

The first serious investment in the sector was initiated in 1940s when Italian businessmen
established two fish canneries in Kandla and Habo on the Gulf of Aden coast east of Bosaso.
A similar but bigger factory was also implemented in Las Qorey in 1960s with Soviet
assistance. The three canneries together employed several thousand Somalis during their
heydays. These initiatives were followed by the implementation of NECFISH project in Bari
Region in the 1980s that resulted in the construction of a cold storage in Bosaso and several
fish collection points in Kandala and Alula districts. With the exception of the Bosaso cold
storage, all the factories and facilities have been looted after the collapse of the Government.
The Bosaso cold storage may not fair better though as it lies idle thanks to a tussle between
the Puntland Government and a group of Businessmen over its ownership.

Why didn't the local authorities guard those factories & facilities? It could have been a source of employment, taxes, income, exports, etc.
