1. No that is not true my friend. Somalia does not say of the Bantu races, ONLY Somali Bantu are eligible for Somali citizen.
I mean this is literally the point.
SOMALIA DOES NOT PLACE RESTRICTIONS ON WHO CAN BECAME CITIZEN OF SOMALIA BASED ON RACE, TRIBE, OR ETHNIC ORIGIN.
Think of it this way.
A. Indigenous African-Americans are natural born citizens of the US because of their original composition of the fabric of this nation. They are born citizens.
B. The US doesn't say ONLY indigenous African-Americans of the Black races can be citizens and no one else.
C. That's why I was able to become a citizen as a Black American, even though I am not indigenous African-America.
Somali Bantu are native to Somalia at foundation of fhe State. That's why they are natural citizens. But Somalia doesn't say, ONLY Somali Bantu of the Bantu races can become citizen.
2. Again, not true. Somalia has a unique 5 Star policy informing its history as you know---BUT THE SOMALI ETHNIC CLAUSE LEGALLY IS AN "EXPANSION" OF THE RULES OF ELIGIBILITY. IT IS NOT A RESTRICTION.
Somalia says "ALL" ethnic Somalis are eligible for citizenship wherever they live, but it is doesn't say "ONLY" ethnic Somalis are eligible for Somalia's citizenship.
I mean I don't know if you even know, but Somalia has 5 year residency main rule where any resident of the country legally becomes eligible for citizenship after thr 5th year of residency.
Compare that to Somaliland where;
A. ONLY specially identified clans within the Somali people (and not even all Somalis)
B. AND were present during the period of British Somaliland existence
C. AND were recognized under specal treaty
are eligible.
I don't think Somalilanders recognize how uniquely restrictive and exclusive ideas of citizenship are where Somaliland is concerned.
Most nations are going the OPPOSITE way.
They are EXPANDING eligibility, not limiting it.
Finally,
Thank you for answering the question although I don't think you fully yet appreciate how your request for recognition/independence is completely dependent on thr character being informed by British Somaliland experience as opposed to tribe
That group cannot become even eligible without relaxing the rules for other clans related to previous signatories otherwise it is just some tribal attempt with no legitimacy.
And last,
I am a direct son of Adal. In fac, there is not a single member of the constituent signatories of Britisb Somaliland that is directly named as part of the inheritance of Adal. I am---directly named in the Will and Testament.
If Somalilanf was being informed by legacy of Adal, I would be extended offer of citizenship with honor.
Somaliland is uniqie, but the uniqueness I clearly identified is informed by what makes jt even legally relevant; namely a unique experience as the territory of British Somaliland Protectorate.
Thanks again for giving me your perspective.
