African intelligence report on AMISOM proves SNA are ready

Postby grandpakhalif » Sat Jul 31, 2021 10:34 pm

Somalia operations put doubts on role, future of Amisom

The relationship between the Somalia National Army (SNA) and the continental peacekeeping force, Africa Mission to Somalia (Amisom), seems headed for tougher times, as Amisom claimed it was in the dark about the SNA’s recent fights with al-Shabaab in parts of Galmudug state and Hirshabelle, where the militant group had laid siege.

This comes in the wake of an African Union report suggesting a modification, then prolonging of the Mission’s stay.

The events in Galmudug state and Hirshabelle raise questions on the relationship between Amisom’s top command and that of the SNA under Maj-Gen Oduwa Yusuf Rage.

Unlike in the past where both Amisom and the SNA shared and publicised offensives against al-Shabaab, this time around, the SNA was blowing its trumpet on the lone ranger mission. The SNA reported causing “losses, including deaths and destruction” of Shabaab hold-outs in one battle in Mudug region on Sunday.

In the operation led by Turkish-trained Gorgor brigade, they reported killing as many 35 Shabaab fighters in the incident. The Somali force also reported victories, and wresting crucial towns from the militant group, in an operation conducted by US-trained Danab brigade.

A senior official told The EastAfrican there had been “bad communication” between the two sides. “The operation did not involve Amisom. They saw it fit to go it alone. There has been no explanation,” the official said, choosing to remain anonymous because he is not authorised to speak publicly.

These developments could now confirm the assessment by an independent team from the African Union, whose work on the future of Amisom was seriously curtailed as Somali officials refused to meet it.

Writing in the report on Independent Assessment Team on the African Union’s Engagement in and with Somalia post 2021, the team led by South African military officer Maj-Gen Xolani Mankayi lampooned Somalia for lack of co-operation.

The Somalia Federal Government, the report released last week charged, did not respond to inquiries until after the team had finalised the report which “sends a message that African Union involvement in Somalia is not welcomed by the political actors.”

The team, nonetheless, proposed three scenarios under which Amisom could be modified to stay, or have it gradually exit Somalia and transfer the security duties to local forces.

Somalia rejected this too.

Mohamed Moalimuu, Somalia Government Spokesman said Mogadishu had rejected any suggestion for the prolonged stay of Amisom, even if its mandate were to be modified.

“The Somali Government held an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the report and has rejected from the outset the report’s finding and recommendations and will issue a formal statement,” Moalimuu said, without clarifying why.

Gen Biixi leads the assault in Galmudug and SNA are now operating without AMISOM even being aware they are worried now that the world sees an independent SNA hold her own

True but the British are pragmatic players. They detest the change it seems but profit has no foe or friend. If they change their policy, who knows tomorrow we can be friends. I used to think enmity is forever but British aren’t stupid. This is a temporary moment in essence. They’ll get used to it.

That Bixi nacas oday did nothing in Galmudug war against Alshabaab he came to Galmudug stop their ongoing war against Shabaabs but was told to fock by HGs or start supporting us.

This government has for the last 4 years only sided Gedo in terms of Military support, aids, weapons and vehicles and logistics, so what is going on Galmudug is purely a local initiative and not governments support.

This while article against Amisom is using the recent HGs fight against Alshabaab, the questions that should be asked is can other clan too fight Alshabaab alone like HGs and win, the answer is a resounding no and this why Amisom will stay because not every Somali clan has that fighting spirit like HGs and not outside support.

It's disgusting that the current government of Farmaajo is preoccupied with supporting Gedo Militarily that it hasn't even send an support to Galmudugs ongoing war against terrorists Alshabaab, not even weapons or vehicles were send to Galmudug.

The locals aren't waiting for Farmaajo to help them but they will help their Galmudug Army themselves and their initiatives;

Today the fight against Alshabaab is fought close to Ceeldheere just 20KM and still no help from the government.

Only local tribes and militias can fight Alshabab there’s no such thing called SNA. Either they are former Mooryaans or highly glorified inexperienced youth.

So why are the Planes full of Military Vehicles, Arms, Financial Funds and Logistics SFG has been sending to Gedo every week since farmaajo was elected not send to Galmudug yet?

The answer is very clear, farmaajo sees Gedo as his folk last existential place of inhabitance, he simply does not view Galmudug as place for his marexaan people hence why Galmudug has received 0 support since he was elected.

This opinion of mine is highly shared by our HG community that farmaajo always had an hostile intention for Galmudug/HGs and that he views us winning the war against Alshabaab as a legitamte threat to his Mx people in Cabudwaaq.

Anway HG weey tashatey long time ago and we will as always depend on ourselves Insha'Allahi, only Allah is our great supporter in these time of needs.

He wasted political capital, fought ASWJ which you couldn’t do as a Sacad since the inception of Galmudug. He helped an ally in Qoor Qoor come into power who settled the place down. The same Qoor Qoor who stuck his neck out for Gedo. A man I respect and Reer Gedo respects and if he runs for president, I’ll support. As for you claim that we took all the military hardware, we’re fighting a whole nation state called Kenya, it’s called national security and it’s the main mandate of the SFG. I can’t speak for Galmudug or what you and Grandpa are arguing about. But I can tell it’s futile and childish. While you bicker like children. The real men are doing the work:
