My general thoughts on an open Gedo section topic;
1. Entitlements have a declining improvement rate unless the whole system is being reformed. I have always viewed the Senate dispensation of Marehan as one of the less proportionate or most unfair to a clan of its stature. It was drafted at a very low point informed by the impact of the momentary Kenyan occupation that was, as we now know, principally designed to target Marehan more than even Shabaab in order to achieve what they thought was a feasible buffer zone. If the Senate was reflective of proportional weight and power, I have no doubt Marehan would take 3-4 seats in Jubbaland as opposed to ridiculous 2 and Galmudug would absolutely have resulted in 2 instead of 1.
2. I don't believe there will be improvement in this current dispensation as I said entitlements rarely improve, but what is certainly happening right in front of our eyes, whether Mucaarad or Muxaafad, is that "everyone" can see the way the Senate process is "broken." It was obvious to a blind bat the moment Ahmed Madoobe started it. It is obvious in KG whether I even supported the result or not. According to diplomatic grapevine, the biggest two Western ambassadors to Somalia looked at each other in disbelief and said along the lines of "Holy hell, this is a trainwreck." It is visibly so anti-democratic, so despotic, so anti-good governance, it makes a mockery of 20 years of state building since Carta. The Senate "will" be reformed entirely from root to roof. Marehan must not lose that opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past and achieve proportionality in the dispensation that will reform the bankrupt current Sanatorial system.
3. Finally, of all the current Galmudug Senators, the Senator from Marehan is the favorite of consolidating his seat. He is a seasoned politician, elder statesman, but also more importantly well-liked, uncontroversial, and esteemed in conduct and in effect. Any change in that dispensation will most certainly be considered a surprise upset. Despite Sahal's meanderings in politixs Generals, I see the Saleebaan, Murusade, and Wacaysle current occupants as the most vulnerable and most likely to change. He believes Abshir Bukhaari of all people will just return. Abshir Bukhaari is the MOST vulnerable of Galmudug. The most controversial seat is also very obviously the Qaybdiid seat involving Xaaf. Anywho we will see.
