Abshir the professor who was gunned down by the same people he supported

Postby SunFromNorth » Mon Apr 04, 2022 9:47 am

Abshir was the chairman of the Somali National University he was also a proffesor at Lafoole college he had a PHD in higher education from the US . In late 1990 Abshir signed a manifesto letter demanding Siyad Barre to resign and appoint Ali Mahdi as the new President, 2 days after Siyad Barre had left Xamar, Abshir was gunned down in post-siyad barre Mogadishu a very tragic turning point in the civil war. Being Dulbahante was his crime being a huge USC supporter did not save his life.

Abshir was one of the most famous victims of the 1991 mass killings

The meaningless killing of Abshir was used as one the main arguments of the 18 may descision in Boroma few months after declaring Somaliland an indepedent nation

Why are you constantly drooling over the past I don’t understand?. You do realise alot of the usc fighters were reer baadiyo who were told the enemies were ‘faqash’. Being reer baaadiyo they just thought it meant being darood. No educated hawiye or hawiye who lived in xamar at the time agreed with targeting certain civilians. To call it a mass killing is idiotic to say the least. I’d be surprised if more than 3k daroods were murdered in xamar. More people died dagaalki afar bilood

If being Dhulbahante was his crime then how do you explain Siad Barre targeting Hawiye officers like my uncle who was killed in Digfeer manned by government forces? You can't have your cake and eat it this is called Aano qabiil and Afweyne started it. Besides, many figures especially reer Bari folks that were part of Manifesto had conspired with Afweyne in his very very last days, some were even angry that he had an Isaaq PM  walle the Darood arrogance was turned on its head if it makes you calaacal for that many years

One crime does not exuse another crime, that is a sick mind, also why will the Kacaan kill a Hawiye officer out of the blue ? most of the Kacaan military were Hawiye so that will be sucide

we need a national reconsilation conferenace in order to heal....

Reer Baadiyo (reer miyi) are hard working people who are mainly pastoralists, farmers or both. They lead simplistic lifestyle and are more conservative than reer magaal. These aren't the sort of people who lead idle/inactive lifestyle, spending most of their times sitting, talking about maalaayacni, drinking several sugary tea cups, etc. In short, reer baadiyo aren't the have-nots neither unproductive who given a chance, wouldn't hesitate to commit any crime/violation. More likely, it's the reer magaal who were behind what ensued in the civil war. Afterall, the leaders of dagaalki afar bilood were reer magaal.

If Siad Barre was picking out other clans within his own regime what stops the opposition? Dulmiga waa loo dhanyahay sxb. I am saying both were wrong and your argument is one was right the other is wrong this is what causes conflict xataa meel dhexe isku imaw ma taqaan hadii lays maagana ninkii ooya baa tahay.

Your questions and your upset is justified, qof xun ma tihid but this excessive mourning is a sign of arrogance sxb dhiiga Muslimka habeen iyo maalin wuu qubanaya maad ka fiirsatid ummada inteeda kale oo dhibkooda la qaybsatid, anything more than 3 days of tacsi is Unislamic for a reason, lest we become like the Jews who only see their own suffering but not the suffering they caused or the suffer of others around them, this is called oppression Olympics dhiigaaga qofka kale make qiimo badanyahay?
