Mahoka, Kenya is like Ethiopia. Even where there is a wide chasm of majority Christian and minority Muslim, like in Amhara region or Nairobi, the Muslims are not an "alien" different group with origins in "other" groups. They are like Showa Robit in Amhara....members of long historical, and just as ethnically affirmed and accepted Amhara Muslim group as Amhara Christian group. Nairobi has been the same since Kenya's founding. Kikuyu Muslims exist plus Muslims hve always had an outsized economic and professional presence in Nairobi itself. Even the South Asian historical middle class in the city are almost entirely Muslim South Asians. Islam is not "Alien" to Nairobi.
