WHY MOHAMMED SIAD BARRE IS THE GREATEST SOMAALI.....

Postby SomaliLight » Wed May 10, 2006 9:54 pm

Somaalis never give up when it comes to Sir Siad barre. They blame him For every single ounce of failure in Somalia even those which occured well after his death. My own Grandfather( may he rest in peace) used to curse everytime he heard his name. He was among the many Majeerteen elites who suffered as a result of Sir Barre' s response to their failed attempt to reclaim the supposed majeerteen claim to the presidency. What primitive thinking i would say, especially in a time when generals were pulling coupe de etate on daily basis in other countries around the world.

But the rise of the uneducated Somaali boy from Garbahaarey is something for all of us to ponder about. Siad Barre is the epiphany of Somaalia. He is one of the greatest Somali to ever rise from our homeland. Many of you would be quick to condemn this man and call him failure and other nonesense words in the political world. But greatness was never measured by the amount of good one does in this world. The vast majority of men considered to be great are not humanitarians but infact they are murders and the most ruthless of human beings. But there is something about the likes of Napolean and Barre that makes us wonder. In the politicial world there is no absolute success, you win some and you lose at some point. It is unrealistic for Somaalis expect Barre to have been some revolutionary angel, afterall, he took the country by force. He took it by the barrel of the gun and thus he had to defend his position by the same very matter. IN a time when many African countries were suffering the fate of post-colonial molestation by Britain and others, Somalia was nationalistic and one of the few African countries being tortured patriotically by one of their own. Barre no doubt put Somalia on the map, he was a revolutionary by all means, and nobody knows whatever he learned in those military corespondence courses in Italy, but surely, the man was a thinker. Siad Barre was A visionary and a thinker. He had ideas and the will to execute his plans. Now, in Somaalia, the land of nothing-doers and petty warlords without a clue, does this man not stand out as a great man? Damn right he was great, a great man with visions to broaden our borders and make strange alliances with key figures in world politics. He put SOmalia in the spotlight for good or for worse. Yes, he robbed us, and made us drunk with clanship nonesense, but i blame odeyaasha Mareerhaan for the damage of a promising man, who perhaps could have done something with this country. Barre's clan had a great hand in the demise of Siad the Great, they milked the poor coward for whatever kin blood relationship he shared with them, and surely the clan nonesense was posion to both Barre's ideas and the relationship with other clans in Somalia. Majeerteen also had a huge hand in the demise Barre's possible good for Somalia. How did they expect the man to do anything when they were under his skin every second trying to overthrow him? Majeerteen failed to fill the vacancy, they had miscalculated yet agian. But The truth was noone could actaully lead and govern Somalia like Barre, they were all only in it for the satisfaction of overthrowing the man,and none of the qabil elites knew how to govern anything, not the majeeerteen who were fighting with him and not hawiye. None of them even pondered about what kind of Somalia they wanted after overthrowing Barre. Infact, NO one even thought of the consequences of overthrowing a president. Yep, we had countless warlords without a vision, running around with their AK47s. Now, Without a doubt Siad Barre made grave errors in his presidency, he was rutless, impressionable and a towards the end of his presidency he was a coward, the biggest coward I have ever seen and a great disappointment by all counts. However, he was the best and most intriguing man our homeland has to offer thus far. In Somalia where we call poets and female singers great, he was King indeed. A ruthless Son of Biitch whose cuts have yet to heal but one of the greatest men the African horn has ever seen.

SO 21 Gun salute For Mohammed Siad Barre, the coward, the visionary, the thief and the Greatest Somaali to have ever lived. up

Can you stop with the Siad for one day, I live in little Mareexaanville where he is viewed as a prophet like individual.
if he were alive he would kill you for what you are and I am not talking about your religious identity, why you would pay homage to such a individual is beyond me. Laughing

SomaliLight,

That is the problem w/ Somalis............if their distant cousin gets some sort of position, they expect it to translate into some form of direct benefit for themselves........how many calls have you gotten from 'ina adeerkaada'..............During the MJ rule of the '60s, government automobiles were being used as private taxis and government medicine was being sold in pharmacies........read Somalia: A Nation in Search of a State by Said Samatar.

That is why I think that Somalia was impossible to govern, and COMPARING M Siad Barre to the rest of these maniacs, it definitely puts him in a good light.

Samatr,

Do you really believe M Siad Barre hated you b/c you were Isaaq? It was politics, Isaaqs formed a group to overthrow the government in the early '80s..........Although bombing civilian cities was definitely bad advice, it wasn't b/c you were Isaaq, it was b/c of the fears of a civil war or insurrection..............

But what happened when the other Somalis took over:

1. Some wanna reveal true intentions and secede after fomenting the most brutal civil war. And their excuse for seceding is that Southern Somalia is unstable b/c they helped to unstabilize it. That's just irresponsible.

2. Warlords are killing their own people in Xamar on the request of CIA/Mossad to make sure Somalis never get anywhere and they can continue to dump toxic waste on our soil like we're some sort of lab rats. M Siad Barre would never let that happen for all the $$$ in the world.

3. People are illiterate and dying from diseases, droughts, and the effects of internecine violence with no viable government response.

4. Ethiopia has their way in our affairs day in day out and they can enter any part of Somalia without respect for our territorial integrity.

If the people who helped overthrow the government had come up with a comprehensive plan for national improvement, I would have kept my mouth shut and realized that the dictatorial government was oppressive and backward.

But the fact that our parent's literacy rate is probably higher than our younger brothers/sisters back in Somalia, what does that say about where we have gone? ? ?

I think as Somalis we are hard-headed................we need a benevolent dictator..........someone willing to rule with an iron-fist but is nationalistic and has our best interests at heart.................

We tried elections.........and we just ended up throwing chairs at each other.

Most democracies gradually moved from a monarchy to a democracy over centuries, over gradual and incremental progress............we just came out of the bushes of the baadiye and we're supposed to have elections every 4 years Confused Confused Confused Confused

we've seen where that took us...........in WWF Monday Night RAW in Nairobi Kenya

Homer,

you're such a dummy!!!

If you can't have an intelligent debate, then I suggest you:

1. Re-enroll in that ESL class.
2. Learn how to have a rational conversation.

Somalia had a lot of achievements under the last government........it wasn't perfect but it was 100X better than this hellhole...........if you were half a man you would admit that.

Who are all these warlords running around now? Is that your idea of education & hormar?

If M Siad Barre was bad then what do you call what is happening now? IS THIS AN IMPROVEMENT TO WHEN WE HAD A GOVERNMENT???

You're the dummy who names himself after an adult retard cartoon......you're probably in your late '20s

You thought it would be 'ilbax' to identify w/ Homer Simpson, huh? Laughing Laughing

Siyad Barre, Lord of the Rasta Farah,

Although a filthy a Darood, he was No sissy Sarah,

He held together the shame of a nation,

locked all Moryaans in a cage of oppression,

Manipulated Darood to fight each other without question,

Ugly like no other

Scary looking like Dan Rather,

Genius although he was in politics,

But foolish he was in Bureaucratics,

To think that his caged animals will forever stay in locked,

He was F**ked! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Somalilight

Whatever anyone says there are two achievement no one can ever take away from Siyad Barre: 12 years in which there was not a single clan war going on anywhere in Somalia and having the cjones to make Somali Wadaads become Victory Pioneers after giving then a taste of their own medicne by publicly executing 14 of their bigwigs. I promise you the barbers of Mogadishu and Hargeisa did a brisk business in beards being shaved immedaiately after Arab-wannabes realised the lowly sub Marehan soldier had the audacity to shoot Wadaads from somalias' biggest and most powerful clans and most revered mosques.

Neither of these two feats has ever been achieved before or since.

If he had the brains, the wit, the smartness, the vision to stand for election in 1977 he would have won by a landslide. Instead like all dumb dicattors he invaded Ethiopia. The countdown to our holocaust began.

^^Whatever siad barre accomplished wasn't because he was an effective leader but because he ruled with fear. He was a total loser, like you.

MAD DOG...only semi-illiterate marexaars will buy such book. Laughing Laughing
