A potential rival for NATO

Postby michael_ital » Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:11 pm

MOSCOW—After a decade as a largely unknown body bringing together Russia, China and a number of Central Asian states, the Shanghai Co-operation Organization is evolving into a security and political bloc that could become a key global player with the clout to challenge NATO, experts say.

good they are finally getting thier act together and recovering from
9/11.

before 9/11 the americans were trying every trick in the book to get into
central asia, they lost all the big contracts in the caspian, american companies were bieng passed and Europeans where getting the action.

This was becuase Iran, China and Russia had a gentlemans agreement,
that they will compete against each other, but that they will prevent any gains by americans, meaning Non political and harmless european companies can be let in but no americans..

then comes 9/11 and america uses this as an excuse to shove its way into
the region, within months there was an airbase in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, all the big companies like Unacol where back in the game.

I guess the Russians and chinese recovered.
