I read an article yesterday by one of the few Western Journalists inside Mogadishu(not that I trust them at all - I have a fair idea of how Western journos work and most are conmen). But on this occassion I felt the comment was true because there is no way a Western journalist could have had the imagination or knowledge of Somali mentality to make it up.

He was talking to a group of Islamist militias and one of them refused his picture to be taken. When asked why he matter of factly said:

"Well I am expecting a focking Visa from the west and I dont want some bored lowly CIA chithead in Langley marking me out as an Islamist do I?"

OK the expletives are mine. And langley. But everything else is true and so Somali - prideless yes, but also no nonsense, rational, calculating and selfish like hell. Grrrrrreat! there is still hope for us!

Really?? Then WHY did u feel the need to explain it, If not from your guilt?? Obviously u claim to be a man with free independence thinking yet obviously u have conflicts with your own blind following of the "Western Journos" & the guilt awareness you have of it Rolling Eyes

I have read about that too. Somali men who live in America and Britain went back to Somalia to fight for the Courts. Most of them have plans to come back to the west to find "jobs." Laughing

Isn't their Islamic Utopia creating jobs?

U are either Somalilight or Galol-- but i always suspected they were the same. Except the age difference, Galol's old age is always apparent in his writings.So i will just have to settle with Somalilight!! Laughing
