Being an international terrorist doesn't pay

Postby Steeler [Crawler2] » Mon Jul 10, 2006 12:07 pm

MOSCOW - Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev, responsible for modern Russia's worst terrorist attacks, was killed Monday when a dynamite-laden truck exploded in his convoy, Russian officials said. Federal Security Service head Nikolai Patrushev told President Vladimir Putin that Basayev had been killed overnight in Ingushetia, the area of southern Russia that borders Chechnya. Patrushev's meeting with Putin was shown on Russian state television.

An International terrorist?
Chechnians are fighting for their freedom to live free in thier land.
If that makes one an International terrorist then be it.

mad mac

you're so anti islam that you're willing to support communists against people who are fighting for the right to have their democratic government and enjoy the same rights as you do in your country.

If the report is true, then may Shamil Salmanovich Basayev rest in peace. For those who don't know about him, he was a Chechen separatist guerrilla leader, one of Chechnya's most famed contemporary national heroes and a mujahid.

If you studied the conflict you would see what it was about. The Chechyans are not some sort of innocent victims.

you are right the chechens are not innocent sheep they are predators,
but still, what ever it takes to free your homeland is just by me.

if it means creating a huge internation criminal enterprise to fund it,
then so be.

which devil? the wahabi "mercenaries" like khattab and et al
or the international crime mafia?

but you are right i guess they went to bed with both devils
and the unfortunate result of that threesome is clear for everyone to see.

but still, i wouldnt be able to stop this
if it was in my homeland,
it will be an unconcious reflec action like, breathing or swallowing
Very Happy

I think it's worth noting that Mashkadov (the late president of Chechnya) was fiercely opposed to Shamil Basayev's targeting of civillians. Basayev's response was to say that he was only employing the same tactics as the Kremlin (The Kremlin in its war of attrition has killed up to 200,000 Chechen civilians, of whom 30,000 were children).

Though I'm not one to defend Islamists, I think magnifying a few incidents by Chechen rebels under the command of Basayev whilst completely ignoring the crimes of humanity committed against the Chechen people whose only crime is to seek independence is a gross mistake.

Basayev was no doubt a terrorist (mind you Putin has more blood dripping from his hands), he even said as much himself in an interview with American Television Network ABC (though he did say his terrorism was in response to Russia's). But his actions doesn't delegitimise the right of the Chechen people to independence.

I was a supporter of Chechen independence in my Islamist days, and I continue to do so. MAD MAC's mistake is to oppose each and every Muslim movement regardless of whether it's legitimate or not.
