I dont travel much these days but I travelled quite a bit in my 20s and I can say this is by far the greatest city I have ever laid eyes on in my life. The languages; the buzz, the power, the mix, the blatant, unashamed hardsell- in- your-face capitalism, the food the smells - even the rudeness of it's subway system people is somehow fun. And boy are they rude or what?
I am still laughing at being subjected to two rows of sales staff at the empire State building on each side of the queue trying to flog us what they called "enhanced audiovisual experience" as if any enhancement was needed over the mist. Those of us who then resisted were simply `dumped' with a yawn.
