The year was 570 AD. Later to be called the year of the elephant.
A child was born in Mecca. A child like no other.
Abdullah his father would die before his birth.
At six years old he would also lose his mother
He would be named Muhammad by his grandfather.
Abdul-Muttalib loved this boy dearly.
Muhammad would be sent to stay with a wet nurse named Halimah for four
years.
After his mother died his grandfather took care of him sincerely.
He would be in his grandfather's care for two years.
At which time he lost his grandfather too.
Abu Talib, his uncle loving him so much.
Took over the care of the boy, something few would do.
Muhammad became a shepherd at a young age.
He would take care of the peopleÂ’s flock.
He became known as the trustworthy one
In his manner and his talk.
Khadijah, a noble woman would hear of Muhammad.
Liking his qualities, she would hire him to sell merchandise for her.
On his return, she would be so pleased with his success.
His uncle would set it up, and soon after their marriage would occur.
She was forty. He was twenty-five.
For fifteen years their lives would seem like all the others.
They would have children, two boys and four girls.
The boys would die at a young age. Fatimah his daughter would out live the
others.
Muhammad was known to go to a cave by himself.
Where he would sit all alone as he would contemplate and pray.
He would look at the world around him,
and wonder how so many people seem to not care about anything but their own
pay.
2
It was the Month of Ramadan 610 A.D.
He went to the same cave to pray.
It would be a day like no other.
MuhammadÂ’s life would change from that day.
In that cave that day a miracle would occur.
The Angel Gabriel came.
He ordered Muhammad at once
to recite in GodÂ’s name.
He would reply “I cannot recite”.
To this he would be squeezed the same.
The Angel would repeat again,
to recite in GodÂ’s name.
After the third time
The Angel Gabriel said the same.
O Muhammad
Recite in GodÂ’s name.
After this occurred. He ran down to his wife, and said
“Cover me.” At this time he was shaken with fear.
His wife covered him till the shaken stopped.
She asked him what has caused you so much fear?
He told her what had happened in the cave.
She said “Oh my husband Allah would not forsaken one such as you.
He has blessed you with a gift
and this I am sure is true.
She brought him to her cousin, who knew of things such as this.
He told them at once this is the prophet for told by others.
That after Muhammad
There would be no other.
Her cousin said, “There will come a time your people will turn you out”.
Muhammad asked, “Will my own people truly turn me away”?
“Just as the prophets of old,
many of your people will not want to hear what you have to say”.
For three years his prophecy would be in secret.
Khadijah, his wife would be the first of his followers.
He would spread his message to close family and friends.
Over this time not many became believers.
After this period of secret he was told
“Get up from there and openly relay
the message of Allah
to all of His servants who have gone astray”.
3
He gathered his people all together in one area.
He said to them “I call you all
as the prophet of Allah worship Him alone.
O my people please heed my call.”
O my people worship the one and only true God.
DonÂ’t associate anyone with He
Destroy your false Gods,
and paradise is where you will be.
His people all laughed at him because of what he said.
How could he expect them to make all their gods into one?
He tried to explain to them that Allah had no partners.
That He didnÂ’t have a daughter and He didnÂ’t have a son.
Over the next years Muhammad would openly declare,
“I am the Messenger of Allah sent to you by He
Praise Allah and Glorify only Him
and you will have the greatest hereafter you will see”
Yet if you associate partners in worship with Allah
Claiming the Angels are His daughters, or Jesus is His son.
Then on the day of judgement, the hellfire you will face
Then you will realize Allah is only One.
He tried to make them see that the message that he had
was the same message in which Ibrahim brought.
That it was the same message of all the prophets,
and he would be the last prophet coming with the message all others have
taught.
The years in Mecca were hard on the believers.
They would be tortured and mocked at even though their faith was not wrong.
Yet with patience and trust,
Allah soon would make their Ummah strong.
Muhammad would call the people by day and by night.
His uncle Abu Talib protected him, and allowed him his right
to teach his followers Tawheed, which was the prophets' main call.
The disbelievers feared that one day the Muslims would stand tall and fight
them all.
Many plots were set up to kill Muhammad.
The disbelieves felt this was the only way.
They truly needed to get rid of Muhammad.
They could not afford to let him stay.
There came a year that would be known as the year of Sorrow.
In this year two deaths he would have to face.
The loss of his beloved wife Khadijah,
yet he knew in the hereafter paradise would be her place.
4
Yet the death of his beloved uncle Abu Talib saddened him much.
Dying a disbelieve he knew his eternal place.
Paradise was only for the true believers.
The hellfire is what his uncle would have to face.
Muhammad would take a special journey to a far off place.
Gabriel would take him from Mecca to Jerusalem to lead all the prophets in
prayer.
After which he was brought to the heavens one level at a time.
Where he met certain prophets that he had just lead in prayer.
He went through the seven heavens where he gave the prophets his salaams.
After the seven heavens Gabriel brought him to a place,
Where seventy thousand angels came to worship Allah at a time.
These angels after their worship would never return to this space.
He came to a place where Gabriel said he must go alone.
This is the place he spoke to Allah alone
Allah said “Your Ummah is commanded to do fifty prayers a day.”
This is the way they were ordered to worship the true God alone.
When he left this place, he met Moses.
He told Moses of what Allah has commanded.
Moses said “Go back to your Lord this is too much.
Ask your Lord to lessen what He has commanded.
Muhammad went back to his Lord over and over,
until his Lord lessened his Ummah's prayers to five times a day.
He refused to go back after that feeling ashamed.
By turning their worship to Allah alone the Ummah would be on the right way.
The next morning he told others of his great journey.
Some went to Abu Bakr asking if he had heard what Muhammad was telling
others.
He inquired, and on hearing it he said if he said it, it is true.
He was renamed Abu Bakr as-Saddiq, because he didnÂ’t doubt the story like
others.
Soon after came the great emigration to Al-Madinah.
This would make a new stage in the Prophet hood.
The first thirteen years was to bring the Ummah upon Tawheed.
It was time to separate the hypocrites from those who on the straight path
they stood.
The Muslim Ummah was ready to fight in the cause of Allah.
Behind the beloved Prophet for Allah they would stand.
The Prophet would make great duÂ’aa during every Jihad.
He would warn them that they do this for the sake of Allah, making sure they
understand.
5
He warned against pride and arrogance that may be in one's heart.
To do Jihad for other than Allah would be lost from the start.
He warned that his orders must be followed for the Jihad to be won.
He also told them that their actions are but by intentions that they had in
the heart.
People came to know of this powerful man Muhammad.
Many came to know of him through these great battles that were won.
His message was spreading by the grace of Allah.
His message that he relayed from the Qur'an, that Allah is only One.
He came to make a treaty with the Quraish of Mecca.
It was a treaty that would allow them, the Muslims to move around free
Yet after a few years the treaty was broke by the Quraish.
Allah told them now it was time to take Mecca back to the way it was meant
to be.
The concur of Mecca -by the will of Allah-was made easy.
Muhammad after taken if over destroyed the idols they use to worship.
He purified the Al-masjid Al-haram for AllahÂ’s sake.
He told all now this was the place for everyone to come and bow to Allah in
worship.
The Prophet went back to Madinah.
He made plans to make the pilgrimage. Many came from far to go too.
This would be known as the farewell pilgrimage.
The Prophet would take all his wives and many of his companions would go
too.
He would do all the obligatory things.
On the plains of Arafat he gave a great talk of warning to them all.
He warned his people to always worship Allah, associating no partners with
He.
He warned them never to do as the Christians and make him a god which was a
sin for all.
He warned them to keep up prayer, and to pay Zakat.
He warned over and over not to worship anyone with the true God.
When you ask, ask from Allah. When you worship, worship only Allah.
Always remember that there is only one true God.
A great ayah was revealed that day saying
“This day I have perfected your religion for you,
completed my favors upon you,
and chosen Islam as the religion for you.”
A few months after his return the Prophet became sick.
He knew he would not live another year.
His message had been delivered,
and now his time to leave this dunya was near.
6
He asked his wives which were nine in total,
where will I stay.
Knowing what he meant, they allowed him to stay with Aisha.
He loved all his wives, yet with Aisha was where he wanted to stay.
Even in his sick state, he still led many prayers.
Yet close to the end he appointed Abu Bakr to lead the others.
With his head laying on Aisha that is where he took his last breath.
After his death they knew he was the last prophet after him there would be
no others.
A great sorrow spread over the land.
The man who had taught them so much had just passed away.
“The one who worships Muhammad know he is dead,
yet the one who worships Allah know He lives and never dies.” Abu Bakr came
to say.
Muhammad was buried in the very house he died in.
Muslims entered his house all day doing the funeral prayer.
Being as it was his home not many could fit in at a time.
Yet even so, everyone got a chance to do this prayer.
His companions would speak highly of the great prophet.
Some would say after meeting him that he is unlike anything they seen before
or have seen after.
He was the Prophet for all man kind. After him there will be no more.
The prophet would say “He who sees me in a dream has truly seen me,
For shaytaan cannot take my true form at all.”
So know if you truly see the prophet in a dream it is a gift from Allah.
Just as the Prophet was sent as a mercy to us all.
I hope with these simple words you will come to love the prophet as much as
me.
This poem was done for AllahÂ’s sake.
May Allah make this as a benefit to all,
and may Allah forgive this Ummah for all our mistakes.
